OBJECTIVES The proposed project will directly target three of the general objectives of the “Youth in Action” Programme.
1. Promote young people’s active citizenship in general and their European citizenship in particular
2. Promote European cooperation in the youth sector
3. Contribute to developing the quality of support systems for youth activities and the capabilities of civil society organisations in the youth sector
The project will test and propose solutions for youth organisations and youngsters how to use different means of media to promote their activities, to access information, to send out messages to the public and raise awareness, to disseminate any type of information and to stimulate their active citizenship and personal development.
With reference to the specific objectives of the call, the project will definitely strengthen the capacity for creativity and innovation of young people by applying the creative and innovative opportunities that media provides. The creative/ innovative aspect of the project can be observed in the way the project is going to reflect the novelties and innovations in the fields of media, PR and marketing and consequently apply those new tools into youth work.
The main project objective is to help youngsters prepare and adapt for living and learning in a global media culture.
OUTCOMES The image building and gaining media coverage for any youth organization is important. If all the activities of the organisation are more widely known, then the organization assumedly will be able to accomplish more. During the implementation of the current project proposal, the partners will use various types of non-formal and informal educational methods, as well as the expertise of specialists with extensive knowledge and experience in the sphere of print media, radio media, TV media, internet media, public relations and marketing, in order to give a complete picture of the tools, used in the image building of youth NGO.
During the activities envisaged in the current project proposal we will improve and increase the media literacy of youth NGO leaders by providing information and focusing on contemporary media tools such as:
1. Blogging.
2. Wiki
3. RSS
4. Podcasts
SUMMARY The project aims at adopting and applying some of the tools and instruments of media, PR and marketing into youth work with the purpose to create a better image of the youth NGOs. The partners will cooperate to introduce and apply the variety of opportunities that media provides in order to positively influence youngsters in becoming responsible and active citizens by developing their critical thinking and personal, social and professional  skills. The project will test and propose solutions for youth organisations and youngsters how to use different means of media to promote their activities, to access information, to send out messages to the public and raise awareness.
The activities foreseen include a preparation meeting in Greece, a seminar for youth leaders and youth workers in Italy, training for NGO media officers in Romania, a final event with five media workshops, a press conference and a public discussion held in Bulgaria and a production of final publications in paper, video and web-interactive format. Promotional materials (brochures and T-shirts) will be produced as well.
More than 120 participants will be involved in the process of implementation of project activities as at least 300 more youth workers and youngsters will be indirectly impacted.
