International Initiatives for Cooperation is looking for young and motivated young people (18 – 30 yo) to participate in a youth exchange – “Media Freedom” (Only for Bulgarians)

Description of the project:
We believe that the media and promoting critical observations to the information derived from the media nowadays for young people is very important. It is essential that young people are able to analyze information and independently formulate their own opinions.
The youth exchange will take place in Moravske Toplice, Slovenia and will bring together young people from seven European countries: Slovenia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Croatia.
Project will enable young people to learn how the media affects every individual. Based on these findings participants will be able to think more critically about everything what they read or hear in the media, which is important for active participation and civic participation of young people. We believe that this is especially important for young people with fewer opportunities.
At the same time addressing the critical assessment of information received from the media, we will also discuss issues related with media coverage of refugee crisis.
Young people should be able to obtain information from the media, critically evaluate, analyze, and ultimately design their opinion on specific topic.
Methods of work will be in the form of non-formal education and learning of practical work. The project will be covering various topics such as advertising, social networks, manipulation of the media, freedom of the media, the media in our country and the refugee crisis in the media.
Participants will also get the chance to create real media coverage of the processed topic. We will have three categories – press, photo and video group.
During the exchange, we will address the topic of European citizenship. We will explore how Europe is portrayed in the media and the influence of media on the opinions and attitudes of people.
